Analysis of JK Rowlings major works

it wasn’t long before Ms. Rowling was recognized as a major discovery. The awards and accolades grew quickly for both Harry Potter and Ms. Rowling. In 1997 the book won The British Book Awards Children's Book of the Year, and the Smarties Prize. To her amazement, and joy, Ms. Rowling became a household name when the first three installments of the Harry Potter series took over the top 3 slots in the New York Times bestsellers list. (It’s interesting to note that the books also did as well, achieving similar results, in the UK) By the summer of 2000, Ms. Rowling had reportedly earned over $400 million for her first three Harry Potter books, which have been printed in 35 languages and sold over 30 million copies. Her fourth book in the popular series, entitled Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, pre-sold over one million advanced copies, with a first printing of 5.3 million. Because of her domination and incredible success on the New York Times bestseller list, the decision was made to introduce a bestseller list for children’s books, which would eliminate the dominating factor of these bestsellers on the current The New York Times bestseller list. JK Rowling has also written two other companion books, Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, in aid of Comic Relief.

The Themes, Inluences, and Artistic style of J.K. Rowling

Joanne Rowling is a marvelous writer. The idea for Harry Potter came to Rowling on the train from to London, where she says Harry Potter "just strolled into my head fully formed", and by the time she had arrived at King's Cross, many of the characters had taken shape. JK Rowling had many influences such as Jane Austen - Rowling's all time favourite. Also writer Paul Gallico - writer of Manxmouse. And C.S. Lewis writer of the Narnia Chronicles Noel Streatfield. Ms. Rowling branching into another genre and writing other books. She includes characterizations and emotions in all her novels. She really has the teenage psyche down in her books - from the mood swings, to the hormones. She also has mastered the art of surprising her reader - sometimes even with an event the reader had anticipated. I felt I could see and feel the setting and emotions of her characters. Her style of writing and ability to draw emotions from her audience has improved with each book.
